Workers, take action! Help stop House File 518!

|

The attorneys of LaMarca Law Group, P.C.have dedicated their professional lives to protecting workers and their rights, especially when it comes to injuries on the job. There is a reason why so many workers in Iowa have turned to us for help with their workers’ compensation claims, and our experience and compassion are second to none. That’s why we are alarmed at the introduction of Iowa House File 518, which aims to drastically reduce the amount of compensation available to Iowa workers. Read more on the bill below:

“House File 518 has been introduced in the Iowa House of Representatives. If passed, this proposal would dramatically reduce the workers’ compensation benefits available to injured Iowa workers. Workers with pre-existing conditions, shoulder injuries, and older workers are particularly impacted. One section allows the employer to tum an industrial disability to a functional injury by merely offering employment. This would reduce permanency benefits for shoulder injures alone by 80%! This bill is not even intended to lower workers’ compensation premium costs. Rather, it is designed to benefit a few, large self-insured employers.

TAKE ACTION NOW! Contact your state representative as soon as possible and urge them to vote “No” on House File 518. Call the House switchboard at 515-519-3717 and ask for your House member. You can find your House member at: https://www.le gis.iowa. gov/leeislators/fi nd

Also, email your objection to House File 518 to your House member.”
