Driver in Des Moines Charged With Possession of Weapon After Wreck

A two-vehicle collision that occurred near 19th Street and Clark in Des Moines, Iowa on Friday, December 30 resulted in one person getting injured.

According to preliminary investigations made by the Des Moines Narcotics Unit, a black SUV was traveling the wrong way along Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway and hit another vehicle. The driver of the SUV, 29, was attempting to escape police officers after a traffic stop revealed he had drugs and weapons inside his car. Police said one person in the suspect’s vehicle was critically injured. They also discovered drugs and weapons in the vehicle. The driver is now facing charges, which include eluding and possession of a weapon.
