Gymnast Testifies in Injury Lawsuit

|

According to an article of KCCI, opening arguments for the trial in the case filed by a woman in Des Moines, Iowa who was hurt by a drunk driving accident are underway. The plaintiff is the aunt of an Olympic gymnast, and opening statements for her trial began last Tuesday, October 4.

The aunt is seeking $15 million in compensatory damages for injuries, which is equivalent to approximately $65/hour for the remainder of her lifespan. The gymnast, who is a 2008 Olympic gold medalist, testified in court, saying it was “really hard” to not see her aunt dance at her wedding six months ago. She added, “My aunt was invincible…now she has to ask for help.”
