Two People Die in I-80 Car Accident

|

Two people, a 43-year-old woman, and a 47-year-old man, both from Albia, succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene of the accident after a four-vehicle collision on May 9 at the 304-mile marker of Interstate 80 westbound.

According to preliminary investigations made by the Scott County Sheriff’s Department, a vehicle driven by a 27-year-old Parkview man rear-ended the Buick Century of the victims. The couple inside the vehicle was at a standstill when they were struck by the Parkview man from behind as he attempted to merge onto the interstate. He then hit the back of another vehicle, causing it to rear-end a truck. Neither of those drivers sustained injuries, but the Parkview man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. He was given a citation for failure to stop within an assured safe distance.

The attorneys at the LaMarca Law Group, P.C., understand how traumatic car accidents are for everyone involved. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victims of this accident.
