Monday, March 14 at around 9:32 p.m., a fiery head-on collision between an Oldsmobile Silhouette minivan and a 1998 GMC Sierra truck in the 11800 block of Iowa Highway 141 near Grimes, Iowa resulted in injuries to two individuals.
A Polk County Sheriff’s deputy pulled 60-year-old Granger resident Michael Crase out of the burning truck when it became apparent he was trapped in his truck behind the steering wheel after the crash.
According to a sheriff’s office report, 31-year-old Des Moines resident Emmanuel Sebineza had been driving a minivan westbound in the eastbound lane of Highway 141 when it collided with the truck – headed east in the eastbound lane – driven by Crase, causing a fire to break out from under the hood of the truck and trapping Crase inside.
Both Crase and Sebineza were taken to a hospital via ambulance.
