Members of the Des Moines Police Department in Iowa took into custody a 31-year-old man who is suspected in a hit-and-run accident that resulted in the death of a bicyclist. The victim sustained serious wounds from an accident that occurred on the 5100 block of Grand Avenue in Des Moines before 10 a.m. on Sunday, August 16.
Police authorities responded to an emergency call and found a 41-year-old cyclist lying along the road, having sustained critical injuries from the incident. Two other bicyclists incurred more minor wounds in the same accident, Des Moines police reported.
The cyclist was then transported to the Iowa Methodist Medical Center where he died on Tuesday, August 18 as a result of his serious injuries.
Police investigators were able to locate the driver as a result of witnesses, who gave the authorities a description of the car he was driving and the plate number that accompanied the suspect’s car.
