According to preliminary investigations made by the Iowa State Patrol, a car that was going south along I-35 traversed the median and entered the northbound lanes where it eventually collided with the left axle of the semi-truck driven by a 43-year-old Jackson, Tennessee resident, who was headed north along the same highway.

The two victims were the occupants of the car. They were identified as a 19-year-old Ramsey, Minnesota resident, and a 30-year-old Findley, Minnesota resident. Both victims were females and both were declared dead at the scene of the accident.

The collision caused the semi-truck to roll over into the median, but the driver was not injured in the collision.
