A multiple-vehicle accident that occurred in a construction zone between exits 65 and 68, south of Highway 5 along Interstate 35 in West Des Moines at around 9 a.m. on September 30 caused injuries to three people and closed I-35 to traffic for a couple of hours, WHO-TV reported.
Data from the Des Moines police showed that the accident involved four vehicles – two semi-trucks, a pickup truck, and an automobile. The police said they found one of the semi-trucks resting on its side when they arrived at the scene of the accident.
The three people who were hurt during the accident were taken to Mercy Medical Center for the treatment of their minor wounds.
The crash caused a large diesel spill from one of the semi-trucks, prompting road maintenance workers to close the road to clean up the mess.
