Ambulance Accident in Des Moines Kills One

|

Sixty-six-year-old Pleasant Hill, Iowa resident Stanley Paulson was killed after the pickup truck he was driving collided with an ambulance in downtown Des Moines on the Saturday night of November 1, the Des Moines Register reported.

Paulson succumbed to his injuries at the Mercy Hospital on November 3, according to a police spokesperson.

Des Moines police spokesman Sergeant Jason Halifax said charges may be filed against the driver of the ambulance after they have completed their investigation of the incident. He noted the difficulty of placing blame in this situation, as ambulance drivers still must drive safely according to traffic, although drivers are supposed to yield to the emergency vehicles.

According to preliminary investigations, the ambulance was heading south while the pickup truck was traveling west when the crash occurred. The impact caused the pickup truck to overturn, and the ambulance flipped onto its side.

The attorneys at LaMarca Law Group, P.C., hold the family and friends in their thoughts during this difficult time.
