Man Injured in Des Moines River Watercraft-Boat Collision

|

The driver of a personal watercraft was injured when his vehicle collided with a boat in the Des Moines River, causing the boat to overturn and sink, The Des Moines Register reported on July 4.

According to Johnston Fire Chief Jim Krohse, the victim who had been operating the personal watercraft may have suffered a spinal injury. Emergency medical respondents brought the injured man to a hospital. None of the four-boat passengers were injured in the incident. The details surrounding the accident remain unclear, although it appeared as though everyone in the accident knew each other; police continue to investigate.
