A head-on collision in northwest Iowa on November 22 claimed the lives of five individuals and brought critical injuries to three other people, The Des Moines Register reported.
The victims were identified as 70-year-old Des Moines resident Myrna Malone, 80-year-old Ute local Donna Tim, and from the other vehicle, 60-year-old Bahta Gebremedhen, 34-year-old Yohanes Tesfamariam, and 46-year-old Kibrom Gebremicael, all from Sioux City.
According to preliminary investigations, 70-year-old Des Moines resident Larry Malone, who was the driver of the vehicle Myrna Malone rode in, was headed west on Iowa Highway 141 in Sloan, an Iowa State Patrol report showed. At the same time, 53-year-old Sioux City resident Shishay Gidey’s vehicle was headed east on Iowa Highway 141 when it swerved into the northbound lane, over-corrected, and then found itself in the eastbound lane. It was afterward struck head-on by Malone’s car.
