A trucker, who almost died when his Freightliner flipped after striking an errant hay bale, has come to a $1.9-million settlement with the company that owned the hay.
Forty-eight-year-old trucker, Chris Alcantara, sued the hay harvesting company, Alden Nunes, Inc.
According to reports, Alcantara was driving a loaded milk tanker when he swerved to avoid hitting a bale of hay, which caused his vehicle to roll.
A court document shows that earlier the same day, the driver of a John Deere tractor unintentionally dropped a hay bale along the road. The driver wasn’t aware that he lost a bale of hay.
Alcantara was stuck for 45 minutes before rescuers airlifted him to the Regional Medical Center in Fresno.
