Thomas Krengel was staying at a friend’s house on June 12 when his friend’s chow chows, Chico and Monte, attacked him after he reportedly tried to shoot the dogs, which were outside, back into the house.
He was then attacked by the dogs, whose teeth tore through his skin, arteries, nerves, and tendons, and ripped through part of his forearm bone, making him look as if were attacked by a lion and not by two dogs, as the plastic surgeons who attended to him described him.
Krengel’s arm—even though it was severely injured—was saved in a four-hour surgery. As a result of the incident, Krengel said, “Let them do want they want to do, stand back, and don’t interrupt.”
