Four people inside a Cedar Rapids home that exploded late last week were able to escape uninjured as flames began to spread throughout the house.
According to the Cedar Rapids Fire Department, the explosion occurred when one of the homeowners was in the garage working on a fuel pump. Flames quickly spread from the attached garage to the rest of the house. Smoke from the explosion could be seen from miles away as emergency responders arrived.
The two adult homeowners were able to get their five-year-old son and six-year-old niece out of the home quickly and safely.
