An outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease, an especially dangerous form of pneumonia, has recently been reported at a downtown Chicago hotel. The JW Marriott hotel on W. Adams St. has been linked to seven reports of Legionnaires’ in the past week and made attempts to reach out to all guests that may be in danger in order to alert them to the outbreak.
The bacterium that causes the disease is most often found in water and anyone that inhales the bacteria may develop dangerous lung inflammation. The Marriott drained their pool, fountain, and hot tub in addition to shutting down parts of their spa in order to deep clean the areas that could be contaminated.
Symptoms of Legionnaires’ disease are similar to severe pneumonia and in many cases, can be treated with a course of antibiotics. If you or someone you love has been diagnosed with Legionnaires’ disease after staying at the JW Marriott hotel in Chicago, you may be eligible for compensation.
