A 12-year-old Sioux City boy was seriously injured Monday after he was hit in the head by a gate as he was loading hogs into a trailer. According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s spokesman, the trailer’s brakes appear to have failed, causing it to roll back into the gate.
The force of the impact caused the gate to heavily swing and hit the young boy in the head. He was incapacitated by the blow and was taken by ambulance to the Sioux Center Hospital.
No further information on his condition was given. As of Wednesday, the hospital no longer listed the boy as a patient.
