Train Crashes Into Semi-Truck in Rural Iowa

|

A 53-year-old man is in the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics after his truck hit an oncoming train in Cedar County earlier this week.

The railroad crossing has no crossing guard or warning lights, but investigators say there are no obstructions that would prevent a driver from seeing a train coming. The accident is still under investigation.

Authorities say that the man was driving to work at a farm to pick up grain. The farm’s owner said he witnessed the truck cross the railroad tracks, but could not tell if it made it over. The man is currently in serious condition, but responders say he was conscious and talking when they arrived.
