Jim “The Real Deal” McNeil, 32, was pronounced dead on Sunday after he missed his landing during a practice jump at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth.
McNeil was a professional motorcycle stunt rider. Witnesses say his motorcycle was sputtering and experts have determined a mechanical failure caused the fatal accident. McNeil was flown to a nearby hospital where he later died of severe blunt force trauma to his chest and neck. He was wearing all of his protective gear when the crash occurred.
The stunt rider competed in five X Games and was sponsored by the Boost Mobile FMX team for seven years.
Our deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of the victim.
