Six people were injured in an Iowa auto accident Saturday.
According to officials with the Iowa State Patrol, the accident occurred shortly after 5:00 p.m. Saturday on Interstate 80 east of Des Moines near Newton at the Baxter Exit. Authorities say a car was traveling west when it lost control, drove over the median into oncoming traffic, and struck another car. The force of the impact sent both vehicles into the ditch.
According to the accident report, the injured victims were transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment. The most serious injury was a passenger who fractured vertebrae, police say. The nature and extent of the other victims’ injuries are not known.
The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol
