A 59-year-old Des Moines high school women’s golf coach recently plead guilty to being intoxicated when she drove her team to a meet. She also plead guilty to one count of child endangerment.
The incident occurred on May 10 at the intersection of Highway 16 and 218. Other drivers on the road reported that the woman was driving erratically and swerving through the lanes. A parent of one of the team members even received a text in which the girl said that she was worried for her life.
After being pulled over, the woman was found to have a blood alcohol content of .212 percent, which is well over twice the legal limit in Iowa. The woman was sentenced to spend two days in jail, as well as pay a fine of $1,875.
