Waverly Woman Injured in Car Accident

A Waverly woman was injured in a car accident Wednesday afternoon.

According to officials with the Bremer County Sheriff’s Department, 30-year-old Natasha Barkhausen was transported to Waverly Health Center after being rescued from her vehicle. Deputies say the accident occurred shortly before 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 3 and Hilton Road.

According to the Iowa State Patrol accident report, Barkhausen was driving a Dodge Neon eastbound on Highway three when she slowed to turn onto Hilton and was struck from behind by a pickup truck driven by 71-year-old Charles Sliter.

Sliter was not injured in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
