A 22-year-old man from Iowa was recently sentenced to fifty years in prison after he was convicted of driving drunk and causing an accident that took the lives of four motorcyclists.
The accident occurred in August of last year on Interstate 29. The 22-year-old man drove his vehicle across the centerline of traffic and crashed into four motorcyclists that were traveling in the opposite direction. The man was found to have a blood alcohol content that was four times the legal limit.
The judge in the trial stated that he hoped the sentencing, in this case, would serve as a deterrent for others to drink and drive.
