Police have identified a man injured in a Des Moines motorcycle accident Thursday.
According to officials with the Des Moines Police Department, a 54-year-old man was found by a passerby shortly after 6:00 a.m. Thursday near the 1100 block of Southeast McKinley Avenue. Police Sergeant Chris Scott said the exact time of the motorcycle crash is still unknown, as is the cause of the accident. Investigators say the man may have swerved to avoid another vehicle, or possibly a deer. “There is a wooded area there,” Scott said.
The man was transported by ambulance to Iowa Methodist Medical Center for treatment following the crash. He is listed in serious condition.
Southeast McKinley was closed near the accident scene while investigators worked to recreate the crash.
