Collision between Cyclist and Truck Ends in Tragedy

The Iowa State Patrol reports that an accident with a truck near the city of Montezuma in central Iowa left a bicyclist from Oregon dead this Wednesday.

The 33-year-old bicyclist was pedaling on Iowa Highway 85. When the truck driver spotted the cyclist, he moved towards the centerline to allow for more room.

It was then that the truck’s front right tire failed, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The truck lurched to the right, striking and killing the cyclist.
