According to Crawford County police, at 11 p.m. Friday a car crashed into a tree on 520 Avenue, about 200 feet west of 250th street in rural Crawford County.
The 23-year-old Mount Pleasant driver and his three passengers were heading eastbound on 520 Avenue in the man’s 2001 Chevrolet Camaro when he lost control of the vehicle where the road surface transitioned from pavement to gravel. Police say that the man was driving at a high rate of speed and that this likely contributed to the car accident.
The driver suffered head trauma when the car struck a tree and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel. His passengers were taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center as well as Via Christi for treatment for suspected head injuries.
