More information is now available about the truck-ambulance accident that occurred yesterday.
The ambulance was transporting a 75-year-old man from Carroll from St. Anthony Regional Hospital to another hospital.
Around 11:30 a.m., the ambulance attempted to pass a semi-trailer truck in the eastbound lanes of Highway 30 near Beaver.
The truck driver saw the ambulance, with lights flashing, coming up behind him. He moved to the right lane to allow the ambulance to pass, but the ambulance driver moved into the right lane at the same time as well. The ambulance then struck the back of the truck.
A 53-year-old nurse, as well as the 75-year-old patient, died in the crash. A paramedic in the ambulance, as well as the ambulance driver, were both seriously injured and taken to Mercy Medical Center and Greene County Medical Center for treatment.
