A Clarinda Correctional Facility inmate died suddenly of a possible brain injury Wednesday in Des Moines. He was found during recreation time face down on a table. Medical personnel was sent to attempt to revive 44-year-old Alfred Eugene Myre, but he was soon pronounced dead. Authorities first believed that Myre’s death was caused by brain injuries sustained from a previous motorcycle accident. However, an autopsy found the cause of death to be blunt-force and internal bleeding.
Myre was imprisoned on murder charges in September 1991 and was set to serve 50 years. Authorities are continuing to investigate his death.
