Fire inspectors are trying to determine how a residential fire that started in the kitchen of a Steldahl home killed a woman in the second-floor bedroom of her home. When emergency personnel arrived at the house, smoke alarms were sounding and there was a blaze downstairs, but the only person in the house was unable to escape. Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames quickly and the damage is estimated at around $60,000. It is unknown why the victim wasn’t able to flee from the burning building.
A neighbor saw the blaze in the early morning hours of last Wednesday. The neighbor reported having seen an orange glow coming from the house and then witnessing a burning piece of the house fall to the ground.
Our deepest condolences go out to the friends and family of all those involved in this tragedy.
