Police report that a Des Moines teen rode his bike in front of a bus on Tuesday evening around 9 p.m. at the intersection of Sixth Street and Forest Avenue.
The 13-year-old was struck by the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority bus. He was taken to Mercy Medical Center with a broken leg and facial abrasions but healthcare professionals expect him to make a full recovery.
According to witnesses and the bus driver, the teenager rode into the middle of the intersection when the bus driver had a green light. The bus driver has had no previous infractions or disciplinary problems. No charges have been filed.
