City officials are considering the installation of traffic cameras at accident-prone intersections and along Highway 235. The cameras would serve to increase ticketing for red light violations and speeding, cutting down on accidents.
While the cameras might work to decrease collisions, they have some residents worried about privacy. These types of cameras have gone up in other cities to great controversy. However, officials will likely not install the cameras in Des Moines for some time.
