Iowa Traffic Fatalities Seem to be Declining

|

For most of the last six years, the number of traffic-related fatalities in Iowa has held fairly steady. However, that may be changing. 2008 saw the second-lowest number of fatalities of the period, and this year seems to be on track for even lower numbers.

Last year, there were 411 traffic fatalities. Over the last six years, only 2004 saw fewer deaths with 388. This year, there have been relatively few traffic fatalities when compared on a month to month basis with previous years, indicating a possible start to a downward trend. However, even if there are fewer deaths, many people are still being killed and badly injured on Iowa roads.
