EPA to test Evansville area for lead

|

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will start taking samples in Evansville to test for lead-contaminated soils. The testing will be part of a plan to clean up a 41-and-a-half-square-mile area in a Jacobsville neighborhood.

The cleanup is being funded partly by federal stimulus money and is expected to be completed sometime in 2012. The potentially contaminated area will not only include housing but also a business district and new arena.
